-IMPORTANT FOR ATI RADEON USERS: Download and install the latest 12.3 Catalyst beta drivers. This fixes texture transparency issues.

-Go back to the Downloads section and download the shader configs right for you. I recommend downloading and testing them all to get the best experience for your system! Some people have reported higher FPS when using Ultra shaders than when using Lite or Default. No idea why, try it for yourself!

-The shader config files that you have downloaded will contain .fsh and .vsh files. Open minecraft.jar with WinRAR and navigate into the Shaders folder inside minecraft.jar. You should see the same set of .fsh and .vsh files here. Copy the files from the shader configuration files that you downloaded into this folder (minecraft.jar/shaders) and overwrite the files there.

-If at any time you need to make changes to these files, you can open these files with any text editor, make your changes, and then save the file. WinRAR should prompt you that the file has changed and will ask you if you would like to update the file in the archive, at which point you would allow this so that your changes to the file are applied.

-Launch Minecraft and enjoy unbelievable shaders! But keep reading for tweaks that will help your experience!

3. Go to "Options..." and make sure that your FOV is set to Normal (all the way to the left). For better performance, turn graphics to Fast, and then re-enable specific features that you want to be Fancy in the Details section (like trees and grass edges). This gave me about a 7 fps boost even though most things look exactly the same. For some more performance tweaks (thanks to the great community!) see here and here. Also, a very important tip is to adjust your screen resolution so that minecraft runs at a lower resolution. This will improve your performance a lot.
